How To Use the Peg Skiver
Before cutting peg shanks with shaping tools and between every two steps down in hole sizes, the peg shank should be scored under the collar. This will eliminate possible chipping of the peg collar.
To score the peg, place it against the saw in the skiving tool and turn the peg clockwise while applying pressure with the leather strap.
The skiving blade is used to remove any uncut wood from the peg shank after the final sizing of the peg.
Place the finished portion of the shank under the blade, push the blade firmly against the shank and feed the peg slowly into the blade while rotating in a clockwise direction until the collar reaches the blade.
